A rare red wine from Judean Hills, Israel.
The Grape Varietal: Petite Sirah Blend
An interesting blend with Petite Syrah, Cinsault, Maurvedre and Grenache. A very ripe concentrated but fascinating complex wine, with fresh acidity. Notes of cherry, vinegar, meaty, pine tree. Mellowed imposing tannins.
(This is made similarly to the Amarone Style but it’s not an Amarone!)
Special mention by James Suckling in his July 2021 article:-
Ze’ev Dunie of Seahorse Winery shares that Mediterranean obsession, and his Chateauneuf du Pape-inspired red Rhone blend, Antoine 2016, was another standout wine, as was his equally complex and original Chenin Blanc James 2013. He used to be a studio technician in New York and a documentary filmmaker.
